A member of the National Democratic Congress Communication Bureau, Haruna Amaliba Kingsley, has accused the Electoral Commission of hypocrisy and being in bed with the ruling government to do everything within their jurisdiction to retain power for the New Patriotic Party in the December polls
The young communicator claims that, the way and manner for which the new voters registration exercise was conducted was a clear picture of how the electoral commission plans to rig the elections in the incumbent’s favour
On a political program dubbed ‘Asem Yi Dika’ on Ahotor FM, Mr Amaliba said, the registration exercise was the worst in Ghana’s political history and the EC is the worst we have also seen
” This is the worst Electoral Commission we have had throughout Ghana’s political history. Look at how the registration exercise was conducted and marred by deaths, gunshots and injuries to citizens. It was all over the country but the EC is telling us the exercise was successful “
” Nothing of this sort has ever happened in the political annals of Ghana’s history. We the NDC have always argued that, the New Voters Registration exercise was just to give an undue advantage to the President Nana Akufo Addo led government but they will fail come December 7″
For Amaliba, who claims to have toured some registration centres during the exercise, he alleged that the intimidation suffered by NDC faithfuls in their strongholds was an attempt to disenfranchise them from voting in the coming election
He believes that, Ghanaians are fed up of the ruling party and the President and will therefore go out in their numbers to vote them out of power in the 2020 election
” Ghanaians saw the intimidations and the suffering they went through amid covid-19 just to register. We also saw how the NPP vigilante groups and some security personnel molested and intimidated ordinary Ghanaians during the exercise. Amidst all these, the EC says the exercise was smooth and successful. Ghanaians have seen and watched videos of all these and will surely vote the NPP out of office this election”, he said
Mr Haruna Amaliba finally pleaded with all Ghanaians to stay calm, not to be scared and vote for Mr John Dramani Mahama in the December polls to redeem Ghanaians from the insensitive NPP government
