James Akwasi Appiah Resigns From GFA Exco Temporary
James Kwesi Appiah has announced he is temporarily leaving as member of the Executive Council position of the Ghana Football Association .
Confederation of African Football has officially asked to resign by from one of his roles as GFA Exco member or Sudan head coach before the Ghana plays Sudan game at the Accra sports Stadium.
According to CAF, this is to stop any conflict of interest ahead of the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers.
Coach James Akwasi Appiah’s spokesman, Asante Forkuo revealed :
“Coach Kwasi Appiah has temporarily stepped aside as an Executive Council member of the GFA until the end of November 2024. This decision, in response to the CAF communication copied to the GFA, was made to prevent any conflict of interest. Since the AFCON qualifiers began, Appiah has refrained from participating in all EXCO activities.”
Appiah was elected to ascend to the Ghana FA Executive Council position – representing Asante Kotoko.
Meanwhile, Ghana will host Sudan on 10th October at Accra Sports Stadium before travelling to Benina, Libya for the return leg on October 14.
