Nigerian actress Iyabo Ojo has responded to singer Naira Marley after he shared their past conversations online, making it clear that she never accused him of being responsible for Mohbad’s death.
In a now-deleted post, Iyabo Ojo explained that she has always supported various artists, including Naira Marley, by promoting their music and inviting them to her events.
“Naira Marley recently posted our old chats, and I’d like to set the record straight. As a TikTok influencer, I have promoted many artists’ songs, including his. In 2020, his team reached out to me through my son Festus, and I helped promote his song,” she stated.
She emphasized that, despite her issues with him, she has never accused him of killing Mohbad.
“My concern with Naira Marley arose when disturbing videos and petitions surfaced, showing that his friend, Sam Larry, allegedly bullied Mohbad, a young artist who tragically lost his life. I questioned why Naira Marley remained silent. I never said he killed Mohbad, but the evidence suggests Mohbad’s life was under threat.”
Iyabo Ojo further expressed her disappointment in Naira Marley’s failure to intervene and noted that she has also been made aware of other serious allegations against him, which may be addressed in court.
“I refuse to turn a blind eye to injustice, even if it involves someone I know. I interact with many celebrities in private conversations, but that does not mean I will remain silent when wrongs are committed. Naira Marley, if you thought I wouldn’t respond, you were mistaken.”
Iyabo Ojo has been vocal in seeking justice for Mohbad, who passed away in September 2023 under suspicious circumstances. Before his death, Mohbad had been in conflict with Marley’s record label, which he was previously signed to. Investigations into the case remain ongoing.
