I’ve had 6 miscarriages – Actress Ini Edo

Veteran Nigerian actress Ini Edo has opened up about her challenging fertility journey, which ultimately led her to choose surrogacy to become a mother. In a recent episode of the reality TV show “Young Famous & African,” she candidly shared her experiences, revealing that she always dreamed of having children

Having married at 26, Ini had hoped to finish her childbearing by 31 to refocus on her career. However, she faced heartbreak with six miscarriages and various fertility challenges. Reflecting on her journey, she shared, “I never imagined I would encounter fertility issues. I have lost pregnancies and dealt with this struggle. When it became clear that I might not have a child as planned, I realized time was not on my side. That’s when I explored my options and turned to surrogacy, a choice I am very happy with.”

In a 2023 interview on the podcast “With Chude,” the actress discussed her decision in detail, noting that she longed for a child of her own and eventually recognized that it was time to move on from trying to conceive on her own.

“I wanted my child to be biologically mine, and luckily my eggs are healthy, so I pursued that route,” she explained.

Ini Edo has previously spoken about her choice to have a child via surrogacy in 2021 during an interview with blogger Stella Dimoko Korkus.

She cited concerns about potential conflicts between parents, stating, “One of my main reasons for choosing a donor was my fear of seeing public disputes between mothers and fathers over children, especially when a man insists on having his child if things go sour.”
