England international and Al-Ahli striker Ivan Toney, 29, was arrested early on Saturday, December 6, 2025, following an alleged assault at a trendy Soho nightclub. The incident, which unfolded inside the upscale 100 Wardour Street venue, reportedly stemmed from an overzealous fan interaction that escalated into violence.
According to eyewitness accounts and reports, Toney was enjoying a night out with friends and his girlfriend during a break from his Saudi Pro League commitments when the altercation occurred around 1:30 a.m. As Toney walked past a table of patrons, one man—believed to be a fan—recognized him and grabbed him by the neck in an attempt to pose for a selfie.
Toney, who was wearing visible jewelry including a luxury watch, repeatedly shouted “Get off me, get off me!” before allegedly headbutting the man, causing a broken nose and blood to stream from the bridge of his nose. The victim also reportedly suffered a broken ring finger in the scuffle.
The confrontation drew a second assault charge, possibly related to involvement from the fan’s friends, along with a count of affray (public fighting). London Ambulance Service dispatched paramedics at 1:57 a.m. to treat the victim’s non-life-threatening injuries.
Police arrived within 30 minutes, a heavy presence including uniformed officers and Toney’s personal security. An officer approached Toney’s table, confirmed his identity, and placed him under arrest for assault.
Video footage captured the moment Toney was led out of the bar in handcuffs, with his hands secured behind his back, before being escorted away by officers. Witnesses noted police vehicles remained outside the venue for about 20 minutes afterward, and officers returned the next day for further questioning.
Toney was released on bail pending ongoing investigations by the Metropolitan Police. No charges have been filed as of December 9, 2025, and the incident is described as isolated with no broader threat to public safety.
Ivan Toney rose to prominence as a prolific forward for Brentford in the Premier League, scoring 72 goals in 141 appearances before a controversial £40 million transfer to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahli in August 2024.
Known for his penalty-taking prowess and international caps with England (including a role in their Euro 2024 squad), Toney has faced prior off-field scrutiny, notably an eight-month ban in 2023 for breaching betting rules.
This latest episode adds to his history of high-profile incidents, though supporters and analysts have speculated it may have been a defensive reaction to feeling threatened amid the grab for his valuables.
