It’s Unfortunate For Ghana – Kwesi Appiah Reactions After Sudan Win
Sudan head coach Kwesi Appiah has expressed that Ghana’s defeat to his team in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers as “unfortunate,” following their 2-0 win at the Martyrs Stadium in Benghazi, Libya.
The Sudanese delivered a commanding performance in their fourth game of the qualifiers, defeating the Black Stars and securing a critical three points.
In a post match interview , Appiah, who previously coached the Ghanaian national team, expressed sympathy for his native country but acknowledged the hard truth of competition.
“It’s unfortunate for Ghana. Ghana has a good team but it’s unfortunate that only one of us can go through. I am happy we’ve been able to put a smile on Sudanese faces,”
The loss leaves Ghana in a precarious position, sitting third in Group F with just two points from four games. The Black Stars now face the prospect of missing out on AFCON qualification for the first time in 20 years. Meanwhile, Sudan’s victory strengthens their own chances of advancing in the tournament.
Ghana’s next matches, which are crucial to their qualification hopes, will take place during the November international break, where they will face Niger and Angola in their final two games.
