IT Education for Employment: Empowering GaDangme Youth with Digital Skills
On the November 9th episode of the Wo He Nii Show, hosted by Lawyer Nii Armah Addy on Ahotor FM 92.3, the theme of the discussion was “IT Education for Employment among GaDangme Youth.” The show featured guest Daniel Viana, an IT software expert, who shared insights on how digital skills can empower the GaDangme youth to overcome employment barriers and unlock new economic opportunities.
Viana explained that many IT courses are now accessible online through platforms like Coursera, with many available for free. With only an internet connection, young people can independently study fields such as software development and coding. He emphasized that, unlike traditional career paths, a degree is often unnecessary in IT, and most courses can be completed in 3 to 6 months. This makes the field both highly accessible and potentially lucrative.
Encouraging the GaDangme youth to take action, Viana recommended exploring free resources like YouTube for IT tutorials. He also advised seeking mentorship from recognized IT professionals, agents, and agencies in the community.
Mr. Viana further highlighted that by investing in digital skills, GaDangme youth can transform their communities and play an active role in Ghana’s growing tech industry. He stressed the importance of job creation and capacity-building initiatives, particularly in areas like digital marketing, which can help further develop the local economy.
