The Omanhene of Akyem-Dome in the Fanteakwa South District of the Eastern region, Osabarima Amoako Affum II has called for an urgent call to entice them into agriculture noting that with the involvement of the youth in Agriculture, there would be an increased hope for a more prosperous future for all.
Barimah Amoako Affum II was addressing the media after designating hundred acres of land in Akyem Dome for the plantation of palm trees and other crops by the youth.
Barima Amoako said this will revive the agriculture sector and will boost the local economy and also help reduce the growing unemployment rate in the country.
He mentioned that, success of such global efforts to ensure food security and sufficiency would not be achieved without the participation of the youth in Ghana.
He therefore urged the government to introduce policies that will make agriculture attractive for the youth to engage themselves in; this he said will go a long way to reduce the rising unemployment in the country.
Osabarima, who is a farmer himself made this appeal in a press engagement ahead of the 37th National Farmers Day celebration in Ghana.
