The leadership style of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) with militancy, hooliganism and intimidation can never seat well with the state where the outcome of the seven years in office can only account for severe economic hardship, corruption and the verdict is for the people to vote them out.
The NPP government is really showing disrespect to the citizens where the government is bent to use all means to suppress the will of the people through election manipulation will not work in this time round where the people of the country are crying for change.
The National Democratic Congress Team member Bright Nyawudzi Bensil said this on Simpieso political talk show on Ahotor 92.3 FM hosted by Emmanuel Amartey (Alaska De Don) in Accra.
In another development, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued a stern warning to the electoral management body, the Electoral Commission (EC), to abort any agenda to repeat the technical challenges encountered during the District Level Elections (DLEs).
The party cautioned the EC to desist from repeating the ‘messes in the 2024 polls to prevent any untoward incidents.
The local elections, which took place today, December 19, were characterized by the late arrival of voting materials and alleged wrong ballot papers, among other issues, forcing the EC to reschedule the elections, citing technical challenges.
The EC has rescheduled the elections in parts of the Ashanti and Eastern regions to Thursday, December 21, 2023.
He is of the view that, the pockets of intimidation recorded from the District Assembly Election speaks volumes that the Electoral Commission and the government of the NPP cannot learn from the excesses of the 2020 elections which recorded the lost of eight lives.
This he believes and expect the EC and the ministry of local government to have learn from the past to walk the talk to ensure sanity in the district assembly elections.
Bright Nyawudzi Bensil, reiterated that, the assembly concept structure has to do with ensure development of the assembly, administration of the local area and participation of the people in all social and economic activities in the locality.
He opines that it will be unfortunate if the EC will not live up to expectations to protect the peace and stability of the country to avoid any danger of electoral violence through deception and unfair electoral acts that can degenerate the country into violence.
