The Ministry for the Interior has, by Executive Instrument, renewed the curfew imposed on Bawku Municipality and its surrounding areas in the Upper East Region.
The curfew, now effective from Monday, March 3, 2025, will be enforced daily from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak on Monday, March 3.
The government has urged chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, and the youth to exercise restraint and prioritize peaceful resolutions to the challenges affecting the area.
The statement further encouraged residents to adopt non-violent means in addressing disputes to restore lasting peace.
In addition, the Ministry has placed a total ban on carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons within the affected communities and their environs.
“Any persons found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted,” the statement added.
The renewed curfew comes as part of efforts to maintain security and prevent further unrest in the region.
