Interdict ‘Hoodlums’ in Oti Regional Police Command – Nkosuohemaa, Obaasima Nana Ama Anowaa Boah Nyarko Appeals to IGP

The Nkosuohemaa of Worawora, Obaasima Nana Ama Anowaa Boah Nyarko, has intensified calls for disciplinary action against certain officers within the Oti Region Police Command, accusing them of misconduct and unprofessional conduct that she says is undermining public confidence in law enforcement.

Speaking at a media engagement in Worawora on Thursday, April 30, 2026, Nana Ama Anowaa—who also serves as a broadcast journalist, senior customs officer, and a prominent member of the Adako Oyoko Royal Family—expressed strong dissatisfaction with what she described as repeated ethical breaches by some police personnel in the region.

According to her, the conduct of certain officers has created fear and mistrust among residents, particularly in communities already grappling with sensitive chieftaincy tensions and fragile peace.

She cited a particular case currently under review by the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, involving an alleged assault on a tricycle operator by a senior officer over what she described as a baseless accusation.

Nana Ama Anowaa claimed the incident resulted in a severe skull injury, describing it as life-threatening and deeply disturbing, and said it had triggered public outrage in Worawora.

She disclosed that a formal petition has been filed with the police leadership seeking investigations and appropriate disciplinary measures against the officer involved, insisting that the matter must be handled transparently and brought to a logical conclusion.

The Nkosuohemaa further appealed to the Oti Regional Police Command, as well as the Interior Minister, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, to take immediate steps to ensure accountability and restore public trust in the police service.

She emphasized that justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done, warning that delays or perceived inaction could heighten tensions within affected communities.

Nana Ama Anowaa also cautioned that continued dissatisfaction with the handling of the case could provoke unrest, urging authorities to treat the matter with urgency and seriousness to prevent escalation.

She reiterated her call for strict enforcement of professional standards within the police service, stating that officers who violate their oath of duty should be swiftly sanctioned to preserve the integrity of law enforcement.

Concluding her remarks, she described ethical policing as essential for peace and development in the region, stressing that restoring discipline within the command is critical to maintaining stability in Worawora and its surrounding communities.
