Inaki Williams Proud to Represent African Roots in La Liga

Ghanaian striker Inaki Williams has expressed his pride in winning the award for best African player in La Liga for the second consecutive year.

The Black Stars and Athletic Bilbao star beat competition from top players across the continent to claim the honor.

Williams, born in Spain to Ghanaian parents, believes his award is a testament to the growing influence of African players in the Spanish top division.

“It’s a real honour to be able to represent our roots in this way, to make us seen in a league that’s so special and has always had such a huge following,” he said.

The 30-year-old forward played a crucial role in Athletic Bilbao’s successful campaign, contributing 14 goals in 35 La Liga matches, six in the Europa League, and six in the Copa del Rey. His impressive performances helped the Rojiblancos secure a UEFA Champions League spot.

Williams’ outstanding campaign culminated in him being named the new captain of Athletic Bilbao, following the retirement of Oscar de Marcos.

This new role will likely see Williams continue to lead by example and inspire his teammates on the pitch.
