The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has recalled 78 personnel who were on interdiction for various alleged offences.
The affected officers include 14 senior officers and 64 other ranks who were allegedly involved in recruitment and visa scams, among other offences.
The Comptroller-General of Immigration (CGI), Samuel Basintale Amadu, made the announcement during a meeting with the affected personnel at the GIS headquarters last week.
CGI Amadu was accompanied by his deputies—Laud Affrifah (Operations and Command Post), Isaac Owusu Mensah (Finance and Administration), Assistant Commissioner of Immigration (ACI) Phillip Peter Andoh (Legal Research and Monitoring), and Deputy Commissioner of Immigration Michael Asare Bediako (Head of Human Resource Department).
Due Process
The Comptroller-General clarified that the recall was not an act of amnesty but part of his commitment to discipline and due process.
He emphasized that the affected personnel would undergo internal disciplinary procedures, and those found culpable would face appropriate sanctions.
CGI Amadu stressed that disciplinary cases would no longer be prolonged, reiterating his administration’s dedication to due process and hard work. He urged personnel to respect both their superiors and juniors, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the Service’s dignity.
