Member of Parliament for Afigya Kwabre North constituency in the Ashanti region, Hon Collins Adomako Mensah has said going on as a country, employment will be based on essentials.
According to him, every ministry in the government goes for financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance before employing people into the sector, hence the NDC should keep quiet because a freeze on employment is nothing new to them.
He commented on the IMF conditionalities after Ghana sealing deals with them.
Speaking in an interview monitored by Ahotor FM, the member of the financial committee in parliament said government was clear in the 2023 budget statement by saying they are not going to recruit more people into the public sector unless unexceptional cases.
He, therefore, indicated that nurses will soon be employed. So, IMF conditionalities do not mean we are not going to employ anyone this year, he said.
Ghana’s program with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will be reviewed every six months before the additional disbursements are made to the government, Resident Representative of the IMF in Ghana, Dr. Leandro Medina has said.
According to him, after the periodic review, the IMF Staff are required to submit a report to the Executive Board for approval for the next disbursement.
He noted that the IMF is looking forward to completing the first review in November 2023.
