I’m not a diva and I’m not savage either – Tiwa Savage

Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has made it clear that she is not as others perceive her, dispelling the common notion that she is a diva.

In a recent interview on Beat 99.9FM, she stated that her stage name does not accurately reflect her personality, describing herself instead as a “lover girl.” “I’m definitely a lover girl,” she affirmed. “People often think I’m a savage or a diva when they meet me, but I’m really the opposite.

In fact, when I’m upset, my team knows my voice gets higher, and they just roll with it.” Tiwa acknowledged that while she’s soft in her personal life, she’s incredibly dedicated and assertive when it comes to her work. “I become a beast in my professional life,” she explained.

“I don’t take ‘no’ for an answer, and I’ll call you multiple times to ensure a task gets completed. I might even wake up at 6 AM to follow up until I get a response. That’s where my savagery lies. But with my friends, I’m really a softie.”

Currently, Tiwa refers to this stage of her life as her “Phoenix era,” symbolizing a rebirth after overcoming challenges. “I’ve got a tattoo on my neck to mark this transformation,” she said.

“It represents emerging from tough times stronger, particularly in love and dealing with heartbreak. I’m setting boundaries now and truly enjoying the fruits of my hard work. This is the rebirth of Tiwa Savage.”
