“I’ll Be Honestly Shocked If King Promise Doesn’t Win” — Enock Agyepong Backs King Promise Ahead of TGMA 2025 Grand Finale

Renowned music executive and industry analyst, Enock Agyepong, has thrown his full weight behind King Promise ahead of the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards,  predicting an inevitable win for Artiste of the Year.

Speaking passionately on Ahotor Mmre with Obaapa Janee on Ahotor FM 92.3, .Mr. Agyepong didn’t mince words: “If King Promise doesn’t win the TGMA Artist of the Year tomorrow, I’ll be honestly shocked.”

For years, King Promise — born Gregory Bortey Newman — has been hailed as one of Ghana’s most consistent and soulful voices in the music scene. Known for his silky vocals and distinct blend of Afrobeats, highlife, and R&B, the “Tokyo” hitmaker has evolved into a global performer with growing international appeal.

Since bursting onto the scene in 2017, King Promise has racked up hit after hit, but the TGMA Artiste of the Year crown has always seemed just out of reach.

With his latest album True To Self dominating airwaves and singles like “Paris” and “Terminator” setting streaming platforms ablaze, many believe this is finally King Promise’s year.

Despite multiple nominations over the years, he has often been edged out by heavyweights like Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, and Kuami Eugene.

Enock Agyepong believes the numbers, the impact, and the timing are all in King Promise’s favour. “He’s done the work. The hits are undeniable. The performances have been world-class. This is not sentiment — it’s merit,” he stressed during the interview.

Agyepong’s sentiments echo those of thousands of fans who feel King Promise has paid his dues and earned the right to stand tall among Ghana’s greatest.

As the countdown to the event draws to a close, anticipation is sky-high. Whether Mr. Agyepong’s prediction comes to pass remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: if King Promise does clinch it, it’ll be a long-overdue crowning moment for one of Ghana’s most beloved voices.
