IGP’S DAMPARE silence on election-related deaths sparks concern

The Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, is under pressure to provide updates on the investigation into election-related deaths that occurred between 2020 and 2024.

This comes after President John Mahama directed Dampare to launch an immediate investigation into these incidents, which resulted in the loss of eight lives.

Executive Secretary of Anchoring Democracy Advocate Movement, Mr. Salam Azubila, is demanding that Dampare adheres to Mahama’s directives and provides a progress report on the investigation.

Azubila emphasizes that Ghanaians are eager to know the status of the investigation and the actions being taken to bring perpetrators to justice.

The silence from Dampare’s office is sparking concern, and many are calling for transparency and accountability in the investigation process.

As the public awaits updates, it’s essential that Dampare’s office provides regular progress reports to ensure that justice is served and that such incidents are prevented in the future.

Azubila’s emphasis on the IGP adhering to the President’s directives may be seen as a way to ensure that those involved in election-related violence are brought to justice, despite the controversy surrounding the appointment.
