Former Black Stars skipper Stephen Appiah has added his voice to the clarion call against the lack of salaries for coaches who handle juvenile national teams.
Speaking to the Parliamentary Select Committee for Sports, Culture and Tourism Appiah insisted that juvenile national team coaches must be tied to a contract guaranteeing them salaries to forestall bribes.
“If I’m a youth national team coach and I’m not receiving a salary and an agent offers me an envelope to invite his player, I will take it”
The former Black Stars captain believes it is unacceptable not to pay coaches working for the youth national teams since it tends to fuel the intake of bribes.
