Renowned economist and former Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Professor Stephen Adei, has made a bold statement regarding Ghana’s persistent corruption problem.

Professor Adei declared that if former President John Dramani Mahama successfully tackles corruption, he would personally carry him on his back in recognition of the achievement.

Professor Adei, known for his candid views on governance and leadership, emphasized that corruption remains one of the biggest challenges facing Ghana.

He argued that despite promises from various governments, corruption continues to thrive, draining national resources and hindering development.
“If President John Dramani Mahama is able to solve the problem of corruption, I would carry him on my back,” he stated, underscoring the difficulty of the task and the significance of such an accomplishment.

His remarks come at a time when discussions on corruption have intensified, with many Ghanaians expressing frustration over the lack of accountability in public office.

While acknowledging Mahama’s political experience, Professor Adei stressed that eradicating corruption requires strong leadership, institutional reforms, and unwavering political will.

President Mahama, has made various commitments to fighting corruption, including strengthening anti-corruption institutions and ensuring accountability in governance.
However, critics argue that his previous administration faced its own corruption scandals, making his promises subject to scrutiny.
