Ibrahim Sadiq’s dream move to AS Saint-Étienne falls through.

Ghanaian winger Ibrahim Sadiq’s dream move to France to play for Ligue 2 outfit AS Saint-Étienne has collapsed due to a last-minute rise in his agent’s commission demands.

AS Saint-Étienne had reached an agreement with Swedish Allsvenskan club BK Hacken to secure the signature of the budding talented forward in a deal worth €2 million, with the player undergoing a medical examination on Tuesday afternoon.

However, Sadiq’s representatives (agency)intervened just as the transfer was to be completed and asked for his fee to be raised, which forced the struggling French second-tier club to pull out of the deal.

The Ghanaian prized asset is already in the books of Polish giants Lech Poznań, which could be his possible destination after an unsuccessful switch to AS Saint-Étienne.

The talented flanks man has been superb in the Swedish football competition since moving to the Gothenburg-based club from Danish elite side FC Nordsjaelland in February 2022.

Sadiq’s contract with the Bravida Arena outfit will expire in December 2025.

He helped BK Hacken to annex the 2022 Allsvenskan title by scoring 7 and assisting 3 in 18 league games in the Swedish top-flight contest.

Sadiq is yet to represent Ghana at the senior national team level after featuring for the West African nation at the U17 and U20 levels.

He was a member of the Ghana U17 squad that featured in the 2017 FIFA U17 World Cup in India with Kudus Mohammed, Ibrahim Danlad, Eric Ayiah, and Emmanuel Toku among others.
