The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has made it clear that he will not take cases to court unless he is confident of securing a conviction.
Speaking at a press briefing, Dr. Ayine emphasized that his office is committed to ensuring justice, but will not pursue prosecutions based on weak evidence or political pressure.
Dr. Ayine, however, insisted that his office is meticulous in its approach, ensuring that cases brought before the courts are backed by substantial evidence.
He added that wrongful prosecutions could erode public confidence in the justice system and lead to unnecessary acquittals.
“As Attorney General, I have a duty to uphold the rule of law, not just to prosecute for the sake of it.
If a case lacks sufficient evidence to secure a conviction, I will not waste the court’s time,” he stated firmly.
