Reigning Western Music Awards Artiste of the Year, Ayesem (Stephen Kwabena Siaw), has revealed that ‘beefing’ in the music industry is normal and healthy for the game. He made this and other revelations when he appeared on Ahotor FM’s ‘Ahotor Weekened Show’ hosted by Dj Use.
According to the ‘Koti’ hitmaker, he has no problem when another musician attacks his musical works. However, should anyone attack his person or his family, he will not take it lightly on that person. “Yes, it is good to criticize my lyrics or works in your music but if you take it personal and attack my family, I will not spare you” he said.
Ayesem who started his music path with Sketches as hi stagename said, his late mum was the only one who motivated and supported him in the beginning. His father, on the other hand, was not in support of the idea that he was doing secular music because of his status as a religious leader and a very religious person. However, he has come to accept his talent and choice.
When asked about his relationship with other musicians from the Western Region especially Kofi Kinaata, Ayesem boldly said, he had no issues with any musician from the Western Region and they are all one. “We are all one and bent on projecting Taa’di and Western Region as a whole” he said. He however accepted the fact that he has no song with Kofi Kinaata yet but they are in good terms. “We vibe real good. He [Kinaata] called me to wish me well on my birthday recently and I did same on his birthday” he added.
Ayesem who is out with a new single tittled ‘Envy’ featuring new sensation, Fameye, said he is set to release an EP (Legacy EP) which is for his rap fans and an album for all categories of his fans soon.
Reacting to the recent backlash on bloggers by Shatta Wale, Ayesem had this to say — ‘some bloggers just come up with headlines to attract more traffic to their websites and for people to read their stories. The problem is with us. Some of us don’t like reading. We only read headlines and make wrong conclusions’.
