I Will Fix the Economic Crisis as I Fixed Dumsor, – President Mahama Declares in SONA

President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to tackling Ghana’s economic challenges, boldly declaring that just as he resolved the country’s power crisis, he will also fix the current economic crisis.

Delivering the State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parliament, he assured Ghanaians of his administration’s determination to restore economic stability and prosperity.

“Mr. Speaker, I will take the liberty to elaborate on how we intend to address the numerous challenges facing us as a country,” he stated. “Yesterday, February 26, marked exactly 10 years since I stood in this chamber, at this very spot, to declare my determination to fix dumsor—a legacy problem of power shortages. And, Mr. Speaker, I fixed it.”

President Mahama emphasized that from January 2016 until he handed over power on January 7, 2017, there were no power rationing or load management issues in Ghana, placing it on record as a key achievement of his previous administration.

Speaking on Ghana’s current economic difficulties, he expressed confidence in his ability to restore stability.

“Today, inspired by the Almighty God and propelled by the massive mandate given to me by the good people of Ghana, I am moved to make a more purposeful and bold declaration: I, John Dramani Mahama, will fix the economic crisis confronting our country and reset it on a path of growth and prosperity.”
