Simi, a Nigerian singer, recently shared an interesting anecdote about a culture shock she experienced in Kenya.
During a guest appearance on the 90’s Baby Show, she mentioned that she was surprised to learn that pidgin English is not commonly spoken across Africa.
She recalled an incident from a past visit to Kenya where she was asked to translate the pidgin English lyrics of her song for a collaboration with a Kenyan artist, highlighting the misconception she had about the language being universally understood.
