Nigerian street-hop artist Konga is making moves for a comeback, and he’s setting his sights on Burna Boy and Tiwa Savage to make it happen.
Taking to social media, Konga pointed out that Burna Boy has borrowed elements from his flow and lyrics, hinting that the Grammy-winning star has been paying attention to his music.
He referenced Burna Boy’s verse on the Sungba remix, where the global hitmaker name-dropped him and interpolated lines from his 2005 hit Baby Konga. Additionally, Konga cited the “Agbabiaka” line from Burna’s latest track Update as further proof of the influence his music has had.
“I know you like my flow, and I appreciate you for that,” Konga said in a video, before extending an invitation to Burna Boy and Afrobeats queen Tiwa Savage to join him on a remix of his classic song Kabakaba.
Originally released in 2008, Kabakaba—which featured late rap icon Da Grin and Fuji artist Remi Aluko—was a massive commercial success. With its high-energy beat and Konga’s signature fast-paced delivery, the song became his biggest hit.
Now, nearly 17 years later, Konga is looking to breathe new life into the track with a remix and hopes to enlist Burna Boy and Tiwa Savage, two of Nigeria’s most celebrated artists, for the project.
As of now, neither Burna Boy nor Tiwa Savage has responded to Konga’s open call, but fans are eagerly watching to see if the collaboration will materialize.
Both artists are already gearing up for a packed 2025, with new albums expected to drop soon.
