“I know what the president can do, and I am confident that with him [Mahama] in power, football will develop” – Moses Armah Parker

Owner of Ghana Premier League side Medeama, Moses Armah Parker has called for support for H.E. John Mahama on his policies to revamp the sports sector under his administration.

The ace football administrator and businessman was speaking in an interview with Max FM on Wednesday morning.

When quizzed if there is hope for sports under the new government the 2019 GFA presidential candidate responded “100 percent” emphasizing that he knows the newly sworn-in president and believes he can deliver.

I know what the president can do, and I am confident that with him [Mahama] in power, football will develop. So we need to support him. Though we failed to qualify for the 2025 AFCON, we are still in the running for the 2026 World Cup,” he said.

Sports, especially football took a downturn in the last tenure of the former Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo and the NPP government and it was climaxed in the last year of the term when Ghana failed to qualify for the African Cup of Nations for the first time since 2004.

Aside the Black Queens, All other male national teams could not qualify for any major tournament for the next football calendar year.

Reacting to Ghana’s recent situation, Parker advised the failures of the past be let go and support the incoming sports minister’s quest to elevate the name of Ghana in the world of sports.

“Let’s put aside the failures and support the incoming sports minister to achieve better things for Ghanaian football,” he said.

H.E John Dramani Mahama was sworn in as the new President of the 4th Republic on January 7, 2025 in a colorful ceremony at the Black Star Square in Accra.
