Renowned Ghanaian gospel artist Selina Boateng has revealed that she exclusively listens to gospel music, consciously avoiding secular tunes. In an interview with Nana Yaa Agyepomaa, affectionately known as the “Birthday Minister,” on Ahotor FM 92.3’s “AhotorMmere” show, Selina emphasized her commitment to spreading God’s word through her music.
“I don’t listen to secular music; my focus is on gospel,” Selina stated. “There’s so much happening in gospel music, and I am dedicated to sharing God’s message with the world.”
During the interview, Selina shared the inspiration behind her compositions and expressed gratitude to her supporters. When discussing her presence on social media, particularly in relation to marriage, she advised:
“We’re all striving for perfection, but only God is perfect. I encourage the youth to prioritize their well-being and refrain from judging others.”
Despite the challenges in the music industry, Selina credited her family’s unwavering support for sustaining her ministry. “Challenges are part of the journey; God uses humanity to bless others,” she noted.
Selina also differentiated between gospel and secular music, emphasizing that gospel music preaches about God, while secular music often focuses on themes of lust. However, she expressed admiration for Kojo Antwi’s love-themed songs and hinted at a potential collaboration.
Additionally, Selina highlighted her latest single, “Flipping Over,” which has garnered significant attention both online and on the radio.
“I only heard my two-year-old child singing a secular song by King Paluta called ‘Aseda.’ It’s not that I don’t listen to secular music; I do so occasionally, especially when I’m in a car and the radio is tuned to a station playing secular songs,” she explained.
Selina Boateng used the platform to promote her latest single, “Flipping Over,” which seems to be making waves across various media channels.
