The head coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo has reaffirmed his position, making it clear that the choice of captain lies solely with him as part of his tactical and team management decisions.
In a tense post-match interview following the Black Stars’ goalless draw with Sudan in the AFCON 2025 qualifiers, Ghana coach Otto Addo made a firm statement regarding his authority over team leadership decisions, when questioned about Mohammed Kudus captaincy in the Sudan encounter.
Mohammed Kudus was made to captain the Black Stars in their goalless draw game against Sudan whiles senior player like Jordan Ayew was in the team and his statement came amidst growing public debate over the captaincy of the Black Stars.
While the match ended in a disappointing draw, the team’s focus remains on securing qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations . The draw leaves the Black Stars in the 3rd position with 2 points behind Angola with 6 points , Sudan 4 points and Niger 1 point.
