A former General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Nana Yaa Jantuah, has revealed that she is facing significant pressure to form her own political party.
“People are forcing me to form a new party, and even some Nkrumahists are calling on me to do so”.
Madam Jantuah revealed this in an interview with the media.
According to her, although the pressure on her is intense, she has declined the call to form a new party.
“I have told them I won’t because it would create divisions within the CPP” she noted.
Madam Jantuah however expressed her disappointment over how some people are distancing themselves from Nkrumah’s legacy.
“It’s sad that people are disassociating themselves from the Nkrumah legacy. We all need to come together and strengthen the CPP.”
She questioned the persistent internal conflicts within the party, adding, “I wonder why there are always squabbles in the party.”
The former CPP scribe cited the case of GUM, a member who chose to form his own party, leading to “the destruction of the CPP.”
Madam Jantuah could not fathom why the achievements of Nkrumah are visible for everyone to see but described as worrying why CPP has not been able to leverage on Nkrumah’s legacy to make an impact in the country.
