‘I am for the grassroots and will fully support them -Tema West JM

An aspiring constituency chairman of the National Democratic congress (NDC) in the Tema West constituency in the Greater Accra region, Hon Jasper Midey (popularly known as Tema West JM) has promised to give each of the sixteen NDC wards in the constituency a token of GHC 500.00 in their coffers should they give him the nod to become their constituency chairman.

According to him, this is a project he has started already to help the grassroots to better their welfare since he knows the challenges they go through to ensure their beloved party is stable in the constituency

Speaking in an interview with Onokwafo Yaw Asiedu on Ahotor news last Friday, September 23, 2022, he indicated that, so many plans are underway to help the grassroots to ensure massive victory for the NDC come 2024

“If something happens to them (the grassroots) in their course of working for the party, they get no benefit which is very bad” he said.

According to him, all the grassroots members are being assured of benefits because he will fall on people who can help them should he win the chairmanship position in Tema West.

Mr Jasper said, there are too many lapses he has seen in the constituency hence his bid to lead his party to address all those lapses to enable them win the parliamentary seat in Tema west.

The NDC opened nominations for its Constituency elections between 20th and 22nd September, 2022, and filing of nominations is slated for 28th to 29th September, 2022.

The nominees would be vetted between 30th September and 2nd October, 2022, and the hearing of appeals would be done on October 5, 2022.

Mr Asiedu Nketia, the general secretary of the NDC said, the opening of nominations at the regional elections would be done between October 6 and October 7, 2022, and the filing of nominations between October 14 and October 15, 2022.

He said the main regional elections would be heralded by the Regional Youth Organiser and Women’s Organiser conferences slated for November 11, 2022.

Regarding the National Congress, the NDC will open nominations between 20th and 21st October, 2022, and filing of nominations would be received from 5th November, to 6th November, 2022.

“We will hold the National Youth Organiser and Women conferences on Saturday, December 10,2022, and the main national Congress will be held on December 17, 2022,” Mr Nketia said.

The NDC said persons living with any form of disability would be offered 50 per cent discount on the filing fees at at all levels.

Mr Nketia said aspirants for the Constituency Chairmanship position would pay a filing fee of GHS600 while those vying for the Constituency Vice Chairman, Secretary, Organiser, Treasurer, and Communications Officer positions will pay GHS400.

Aspirants for the Regional Chairmanship positions would pay a filing fee of GHS 4,000, and those vying for the Regional, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Organizer, Treasurer, and Communications Officer positions will pay GHS3,000.

“The Youth, Women, and Zongo Caucus Coordinators will pay GHS2,000 and all other deputies will pay GHS1,500,” Mr Nketia said.
