I am facing political threats over performance at Nkrumah Fest – Blakk Rasta

Ghanaian reggae artist and political commentator, Blakk Rasta recently revealed that he encountered political threats following his controversial performance at the Nkrumah Fest.

Initially invited to deliver a speech at the event, Blakk Rasta was persuaded by the enthusiastic audience to perform instead. During his performance, he sang three songs, including “Kwame Nkrumah,” “Barack Obama,” and “Thief President,” with the latter sparking controversy and quickly going viral on social media.

Despite clarifying that the song was not targeted at any specific individual, Blakk Rasta’s performance garnered a hostile response from some viewers. Subsequently, he received several threatening phone calls, leading the event organizers to provide him with additional security.

Describing one of the calls, Blakk Rasta mentioned that individuals used non-existent phone numbers to threaten him. In response, the event organizers offered security support around his hotel area, which he accepted, acknowledging the tension surrounding the situation.

In reflecting on the experience, Blakk Rasta emphasized the importance of holding leaders accountable and cautioned against corruption. He highlighted the significance of citizens identifying leaders who do not serve their best interests and urged against engaging in corrupt practices.

Additionally, he underscored the need for leaders to act with integrity and warned against dishonesty in public office.
