GFA technical director Bernhard Lippert confident of Black Stars qualification over Nigeria on Tuesday
Ghana Football Association (GFA) Technical Director, Bernhard Lippert believes the Black Stars have in possession what it takes to beat Nigeria in their own backyard to book a qualification for the Mundial.
Ghana in the first leg staged at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday night hosted the Super Eagles but the game ended 0-0.
The Black Stars under Otto Addo dominated the game both in the first half and in the second half of the game.
With the second leg scheduled to be played at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Lippert insists the Black Stars will cruise over the Super Eagles at their home grounds.
“I saw a positive game from the team, it was one of the best games in the last year. There’s a lot of passion, finally, we couldn’t score but it gives us a lot of hope that we can beat Nigeria on Tuesday,” he said in an interview with Kumasi-based Akoma FM.
“We knew before that it was a 50-50 playoff match, so we have chances like them, the venue does not mean anything, we are almost at the same level”
“I think if we show the same passion as today, why not, I’m very confident that we can qualify.”
The Black Stars who are four times African champions are racing for their fourth World Cup appearance having missed out in the last edition hosted in Russia in 2018.
