Concerns have been drawn to the selectivity in the police service and the govt in enforcing the covid-19 protocols.
It could be recalled that on Jan. 21 2021, Police arrested a total of 202 people who fail to wear nose masks contrary to directive by Prez Akufo-Addo to citizens in the fight against Covid-19.
On April 18, 2020, A pastor and two others who organized church service in defiance of a ban on congregations to prevent the spread of Covid-19 have been jailed for four years each by the Kpando Circuit Court in the Volta Region of Ghana.
They were found to have flouted a presidential directive on social gathering in the wake of the outbreak of the coronavirus (Covid-19).
The Pastor of the Church of Pure Christ, Apostle Sampson Agakpe was arrested by police on 12 April for organizing a church service for more than 50 people in clear breach of the ban meant to control the spread of the deadly virus.
Maxwell Dzogoedzikpe, who is the Assistant Pastor and Samuel Agakpe, the Secretary and the head pastor pleaded guilty for failing to comply with the ban on church services.
They were however fined $2,400 each or in default to serve four years in prison.
However, in the glare presence of the President nana Addo, top police hierarchy were at the funeral of the late former general Secretary of the NPP, and all protocols were thrown to the wind.
Picture and videos circulating on social media indicates the violation of the covid-19 protocols in the presence of the President Nana Addo, the Vice President, Dr Mahmoud Bawumia, high ranking State officials including top security officials.
The question is, why the selectivity in justice?
