HOW CREATING WEALTH FOR A FEW IS KILLING GHANA FOOTBALL

Ghana football is on a downward spiral looking at the turnout of events over some years now. The Black maidens have been hit by a ban as a result of age cheating. The Black Princesses failed to make it out of the group stage of the FIFA under-20 World Cup. The failures of the CHAN team, Black Galaxies leaves much to be desired. The evergreen Black Queens is now a walking dead.

The Black Starlets and Black Satellites are on their knees as they look to make a headway. The biggest product of Ghana football the Black Stars has evolved from being a power house to an old ware house.

Missing out on the African Cup of nation for the first time since 2004 is only a reflection of the work been done at the buttom which satisfies the interest of the man in suit and his cohorts. Qualifying for the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup clearly did Ghana a lot of bad than good. We were made to believe Ghana football was not in crisis meanwhile everything alluded to the fact that Ghana Football was on life support. Trust me, Same story will be told if Ghana qualifies for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Myopically, not qualifying for the AFCON sends shivers down the spine but that surely shouldn’t be our biggest worry if we are a serious football nation. The real doom lies in how long it take Ghana to return to the top. The advent of the man in suit has yielded a clan of football people who’s interest is to use football to enrich themselves by sacrificing the joy of over 30 million Ghanaians. Tell me, is there any serious football nation where their Football Association president owns more than two or three clubs. Again, is there any serious football nation where executive council members are club owners. Such practices makeway for conflict of interest which retards long lasting progress.

So in Ghana call ups to juvenile national teams are done to satisfy the interest of club owners, football administrators and associates of the executive committee of the Ghana Football Association. This scheme is largely why the Black Starlets and the Black Satellites are lurking in the shadows. We might not qualify for the African Cup but our biggest doom lies in taking our seat at the top again. In honest our future is bleak.

Creating wealth for a few is why the Black Satellite ahead of WAFU Zone B qualifier would square up against Germany and Switzweland in a tournament. To curtail mischief only four players in Ghana’s team had their club symbols on the team sheet.

Those who are on a three square meal budget will defend this but divinity will fight for the people. So for some strange reasons Mr. Kurt E.S Okraku in an attempt to seek public sympathy will scold players and have his people deliberately leak it minutes to kick off against Sudan. If not for selfish gains why scold and record.

It is evident that Ghana football is at a dead end. If our Legends will voice out more, if Sports Journalist will continiously speak truth to power I believe the man in suit and his cohorts will have no option than to ammend their ways. Trust me Right To Dream Academy would have packed out if we were short of talent.
