Hon. Sam Pee Yalley Calls for Implementation Roadmap for NDC’s 24-Hour Economy Proposal at National Dialogue

Hon. Sam Pee Yalley, President of the Professionals Forum of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and former Ambassador to Sri Lanka and India, has emphasized the need for the ongoing National Economic Dialogue to focus on practical steps for implementing key proposals outlined in the NDC manifesto.

In an interview with Citizen Kofi Owusu, Hon. Yalley highlighted that the NDC has consistently championed the idea of national dialogues as a tool for addressing critical challenges. He explained that the party’s manifesto laid the foundation for such conversations, particularly the introduction of innovative economic policies like the 24-hour economy.

“The NDC has always been committed to fostering inclusive national dialogues, and this conference aligns with our vision,” Hon. Yalley remarked. “One of the major proposals in our manifesto is the concept of a 24-hour economy, which we believe can revolutionize Ghana’s economic landscape. However, the focus should now shift to how and when these ideas will be implemented.”

He expressed his hope that the dialogue would provide clarity on the practical steps needed to bring the 24-hour economy to life. According to Hon. Yalley, this transformative policy requires a well-thought-out implementation strategy that includes timelines, infrastructure development, stakeholder collaboration, and policy alignment.

“This conference should go beyond discussions and tell us the specific actions and frameworks that will drive the 24-hour economy. It’s not enough to have brilliant ideas; what matters is how we turn those ideas into reality. The NDC manifesto provides the vision, but we need a concrete roadmap for execution,” he emphasized.

Hon. Yalley also urged participants at the dialogue to approach the discussions with a results-oriented mindset. He argued that the success of the dialogue would depend on the collective will to prioritize solutions that align with the aspirations of Ghanaians.

“We must ensure that this conference is not just a platform for talking but a springboard for actionable change. The 24-hour economy has the potential to boost productivity, create jobs, and drive sustained economic growth, but it requires a shared commitment from all stakeholders,” he said.

As the National Economic Dialogue continues, Hon. Sam Pee Yalley’s call for a detailed implementation strategy underscores the importance of translating policy ideas into measurable outcomes. His comments have sparked renewed interest in the NDC’s vision for a 24-hour economy and its potential to transform Ghana’s economic trajectory.
