Hon. Kwakye Ackah Withdraws Independent Bid, Paving Way for NDC’s Joana Gyan Cudjoe in Amenfi Central.

The Deputy National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Godwin Ako Gunn has announced that the incumbent member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Hon. Peter Kwakye Ackah has withdrawn his independent candidacy for the December 7 elections.

In an interview with Citizen Kofi, Mr. Ako Gunn revealed that Hon. Kwakye Ackah submitted a letter to the NDC at the constituency level and another to the Electoral Commission, formally stating his decision not to contest the elections as an independent candidate. “This means that Amenfi Central will remain an NDC stronghold in the upcoming elections, and the seat will be added to the party’s tally,” he said.

Mr. Ako Gunn emphasized that the Amenfi Central constituency has traditionally been an NDC stronghold. “Unless there is internal confusion, no NPP candidate can win that seat,” he stated. He also stressed the importance of unity and calm within the party, noting that with peace in place, the NDC is poised for victory in the area.

Speaking during an interview with Citizen Kofi, Mr. Ako Gunn highlighted that Hon. Kwakye Ackah’s withdrawal has simplified the party’s campaign efforts in the Amenfi Central constituency. He explained that the NDC no longer has to go through the challenge of clarifying to constituents that Hon. Kwakye Ackah is not the party’s candidate. Instead, they can now focus on promoting and rallying support for the officially endorsed candidate, Joana Gyan Cudjoe.

“With Hon. Ackah stepping aside, we don’t need to struggle anymore to explain to people that he isn’t our candidate. The focus is now fully on Joana Gyan Cudjoe as the NDC’s representative. This clarity will strengthen our campaign and ensure that the message resonates with the people,” Mr. Ako Gunn stated confidently.

He added that this development brings renewed unity to the party in the constituency, allowing the NDC to channel its energy toward securing a decisive victory in the elections. According to Mr. Ako Gunn, with Hon. Ackah’s withdrawal, the NDC’s path to reclaiming the Amenfi Central seat is clearer than ever.
