Hon. Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, the Member of Parliament for Lower Manya Krobo, has once again expressed frustration over the Finance Minister’s continued absence from Parliament.
Speaking during an interview with citizenKofi Owusu on AdekyeemunsemonAhotorfm, Hon. Terlabi said he did not expect such behavior from the Finance Minister, noting that his unexplained absence has raised serious concerns.
“I cannot understand why the Finance Minister would act this way. I believe something might be holding him back, but this is no excuse for showing such disregard for the responsibilities of his office,” Hon. Terlabi said.
He described the Finance Minister’s actions as a demonstration of indifference and negligence, urging him to step up and fulfill his duties. “This is not the time to display weakness or incompetence.
The Minister owes it to Parliament and Ghanaians to present the financial roadmap for the first three months of the year. People deserve clarity and assurance about their salaries, projects, and other government obligations,” he added.
Hon. Terlabi stressed the importance of the mini-budget in ensuring that critical government operations, including salary payments and funding for projects, are not disrupted.
He called on the Finance Minister to prioritize his role and provide the necessary financial statements to enable Parliament to carry out its mandate effectively.
The MP’s comments reflect growing concerns within the Minority about the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability in managing the nation’s finances.
