Hon. Dr. Rashid Pelpuo Vows Reforms to Boost Productivity and Bridge Salary Gaps in Public Sector

Member of Parliament for Wa Central, Rashid Pelpuo, has committed to revitalizing Ghana’s public sector by addressing low productivity and salary disparities, key barriers to economic efficiency and national growth.

Recognizing that these issues have dampened morale and slowed sectoral output, Pelpuo is pushing for decisive reforms to enhance productivity and economic competitiveness.

His commitment comes at a critical time when concerns over wage inequality and stagnant productivity threaten the sector’s role as a driver of national development. The widening income gap between top officials and junior staff has not only fostered dissatisfaction but also weakened overall efficiency.

To counter these challenges, Pelpuo is advocating for a comprehensive salary restructuring that ensures equitable compensation and aligns pay with performance. He also proposes the introduction of merit-based incentives to stimulate productivity and drive value creation within the public sector.

Beyond wage reforms, Pelpuo underscores the importance of strategic investments in workforce training and capacity-building initiatives. By equipping public sector employees with advanced skills and modern competencies, he envisions a more dynamic and results-driven administration that contributes meaningfully to Ghana’s economic progress.

While many welcome this pledge as a progressive step toward public sector transformation, some remain cautious, calling for a detailed implementation framework and clear benchmarks for success.

Nevertheless, tackling inefficiencies in the public sector is crucial for Ghana’s economic acceleration.

Pelpuo’s vision sets the stage for a long-overdue restructuring, reinforcing the public sector’s role as a pillar of sustainable national development.
