HOMELESS HEARTS: GFA Revokes Legon Sports Stadium License, leaving Hearts of Oak in Limbo

Premier League giants Hearts of Oak has been kicked out of the Legon Sports Stadium by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

This decision comes as a surprise, especially since the team has been using the stadium as their home ground in the ongoing 2024/2025 season.

According to reports, the GFA has been conducting inspections of various stadiums across the country to ensure they meet the required safety and security standards.

Unfortunately, the Legon Sports Stadium failed to meet these standards, leading to the GFA’s decision to ban Hearts of Oak from using the facility.

This development has significant implications for Hearts of Oak, as they will now need to find an alternative home ground with WAFA Park reportedly under consideration.

“Unfortunately, Thursday evening then we got information that we cannot, per the new Enhance Security and Safety measures introduced Legon Stadium doesn’t meet the standards so we can’t play at the Legon Stadium.” Club PRO, Opare Addo shared on Happy FM.

The GFA’s emphasis on safety and security is commendable, but the timing of this decision may raise some eyebrows. With the Ghana Premier League season already underway, Hearts of Oak’s sudden displacement could disrupt their momentum and impact their performance on the pitch.

As the situation unfolds, fans and stakeholders will be watching closely to see how Hearts of Oak adapts to this unexpected setback.

Will they be able to find a suitable new home ground, or will this decision have a lasting impact on their season as they face Young Apostles on match day 23 this weekend.
