Hola Accra Music Festival to light up Jamestown

The inaugural edition of the Hola Accra Music Festival is fast approaching and music lovers in Jamestown and surrounding areas are counting down to some outdoor fun at Ussher Fort (Old Kingsway Building) on April 24, 2026.

The Hola Accra Music Festival is a Ghana-Spain cultural collaboration that highlights music from the two countries. It aims to ride on the cooperation to foster a deep, mutually-beneficial creative partnership.

Acts slated to perform at the festival are the Mucho Mungo band from Spain and three Ghanaian bands: Lipstick Queens, Akablay’s Abiza Band and Dan Grahl’s Hyskuul Band.

The Hola Accra Music Festival is organized by the Spanish Agency for Cooperation (AECID) in collaboration with the Embassy of Spain in Ghana, Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Showbiz Africa, Creative Arts Agency and Globe Production, with sponsorship from Coca Cola, La Liga EA Sports, SuperSport and GB Foods Ghana.

Keen observers of Accra’s cultural scene say Jamestown stands out as a robust magnet for community cultural activities, having in recent times hosted events like the Chale Wote, Tumaatu, Moonsplash Reggae and Kenkey festivals as well as a variety of artists workshops and exhibitions.

The Hola Accra Music Festival making its debut there is therefore a way of announcing itself as a participatory programme that cherishes togetherness. It is expected that the festival would fuse the intense, infectious sense of excitement that characterize Spanish fiestas with the vibrant mood of Ghanaian festivals.

Guitarist Akablay and his Abiza Band, who describe their music as Kundum Highlife, say they are ready to help create an inclusive atmosphere where people can mingle, dance and enjoy the music and food.

This first edition of the Hola Accra Music Festival is from 6.00pm to 11.00pm. It is expected to be an annual event to attract music lovers and promote tourism in Ghana.
