The Highlife to the World (H2TW) – Black Star Experience 2027 campaign has officially been launched in Barcelona, Spain, marking the beginning of a global initiative to promote Ghana’s rich Highlife music heritage ahead of the country’s 70th Independence Anniversary in 2027.

The launch, held at Seasea Club on August 2, 2026, was led by Ghana’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain, H.E. Kalsoume Sinare Baffoe, alongside the Executive Secretary of the Creative Arts Agency, Gideon Aryeequaye, and attended by distinguished dignitaries, industry stakeholders, and music icons.
As part of the campaign, a series of workshops, masterclasses, and major concerts will be staged across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas to showcase Highlife music on the global stage while preserving the genre for future generations.
Speaking at the launch, Gideon Aryeequaye described the initiative as a major opportunity to project Ghanaian creatives internationally.
“This partnership provides the perfect platform to showcase Ghanaian talent globally while promoting and preserving Highlife music for generations to come,” he said.
The launch event featured thrilling performances from Jupitar, Bessa Simons, Obrafour, Stonebwoy, and the Lucky Star Band, while DJs Logs, Demo, King Solo, and Nigerian guest DJ Enny kept patrons entertained with energetic opening sets.
Also present at the event were Presidential Aide and Coordinator of the Black Star Experience, Rex Omar; Ghana’s Permanent Delegate to UNESCO in Paris, H.E. Meredith Naakai Lamptey; and Ambassador Kalsoume Sinare Baffoe, all of whom reaffirmed their commitment to making Highlife a major highlight of Ghana’s 70th anniversary celebrations.
Events Lead at Seasea Club, Lara Torres, expressed excitement about partnering with the initiative, stating that the venue is proud to support a campaign celebrating the country that gave birth to Afrobeat and hopes to host the event annually.
The Highlife to the World initiative is being organized by Showbiz Africa, the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Black Star Experience, Benayacon, and the Ghana Embassy in Madrid, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Creative Arts Agency, the Ghana Tourism Authority, and the National Folklore Board.
The full roadmap for the Highlife to the World – Black Star Experience 2027 campaign is expected to be unveiled during the maiden Highlife Festival at Laboma Beach Resort in Accra later this year.
