The home team took the lead in the 35th minute when Seedorf Asante found the back of the net, putting Heart of Lions ahead. Just before halftime, Fawzi Ali capitalized on the momentum to double the advantage in first-half stoppage time at 45+2, sending the hosts into the break with a comfortable 2-0 cushion.
Asante Kotoko managed to pull one goal back from the penalty spot through Samba O’niel in the 58th minute, briefly reigniting hopes of a comeback for the visiting Porcupine Warriors.
