The Ministry of Health has announced the temporary closure of the Nursing Training College, Techiman-Krobo, with immediate effect and until further notice, following unrest and what it describes as a breakdown of rules and regulations at the institution.
In a statement, the Ministry said the decision was taken after several engagements, including meetings, counselling sessions and appeals by stakeholders, including the Regional Security Council, to encourage dialogue and restore order on campus. Despite these efforts, the Ministry said some students have continued to engage in conduct that disrupts academic activities and threatens the peace, safety and orderly administration of the college.
The Ministry explained that the temporary closure is intended to restore calm, protect lives and property, and allow the appropriate authorities to assess the situation and determine the necessary steps towards reopening the institution under conducive conditions.
All students have been directed to peacefully vacate the campus by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, and return to their respective homes. Parents and guardians have been advised to make the necessary arrangements for their wards.
The Ministry of Health assured students, parents, guardians, staff and other stakeholders that efforts will be made to resolve the situation as quickly as possible. It said information regarding the reopening of the college will be communicated through official channels in due course.
The Ministry expressed appreciation to all stakeholders for their understanding, cooperation and support as efforts continue to restore a safe, peaceful and disciplined learning environment at the institution.
