Chief Executive Officer of Aduana FC, Collins Atta Poku, has thrown his full support behind Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, insisting the trainer has earned the right to lead Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking to Citi Sports on Monday, February 9, 2026, Atta Poku dismissed any doubts surrounding Addo’s position, emphasizing that qualification alone justifies his continued leadership.
“He earned a slot by qualifying us, so it’s good that we are taking him,” Atta Poku stated.
His remarks follow the Ghana Football Association’s decision to strengthen Addo’s technical team with five experienced professionals, including French tactician Alain Ravera and Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren. The additions are aimed at enhancing Ghana’s preparations for a challenging Group L campaign featuring England, Croatia, and Panama.
Rather than interpreting the reinforcements as a critique of Addo, Atta Poku views them as crucial backing for a coach tasked with navigating the global stage.
“If he needs backup to excel, let’s provide all that he needs so that the Black Stars can go and excel at the Mundial in the United States of America,” he added.
Atta Poku further revealed he has had direct interactions with some of the newly appointed staff members and is confident in their impact.
“I was with Shadoh and Alain Ravera, the assistant, and they are all working strongly to ensure that they get some gems to come and play for us during the World Cup. I’m optimistic that these people will come in and help what we have to get better.”
Ghana will begin their World Cup journey against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, before facing England in Boston on June 23 and Croatia in Philadelphia on June 27.
For Atta Poku, the conversation about Addo’s legitimacy is straightforward.
“He qualified the team. He earned the slot. Now he must be supported to finish what he started.”
