The National Democratic Congress in its weekly press briefing have called for the resignation, arrest and prosecution of Hon. Hawa Koomson who doubles as minister for Special Initiatives for her role in violent acts at a registration centre in Kasoa.
The minister had ealier admitted she fired gun shots at a registeration centre, an incident that erupted violence and further disrupted registration process in the constituency
So far 4 persons have been arrested but the minister is yet to be arrested and charged by the police.
On wednesday, at a Press briefing, the NDC called for the arrest and the prosecution of the Awutu Senya East MP Hon. Hawa Koomson. The party threatened that if president Akuffo Addo government fails to act, the next NDC government will do the needful to ensure the minister is held responsible for her crimes against innocent civilians.
Hon. Hawa Koomson invaded the said registration centre at Kasoa with a gang of hooligans in a Rambo on rampage fashion and fired gunshots to disrupt an ongoing voters registeration exercise and commanded thugs accompanying her to set motorsbikes ablaze : an eye witness who spoke to Ahotoronline.com confirmed but speaking to one radio stations in Accra Hon. Hawa Koomson admitted she fired the gunshots in self defense.
Speaking to the media, Hon. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Director of Elections for the NDC, refered to Hon. Hawa Koomson as a gangster who must be prosecuted for her crimes to deter further engagement in the face of numerous acts of violence and lawlessness characterising the ongoing registeration exercise.
Numerous calls have equally emanated from a large section of Ghanaians asking for the dismissal, arrest and further prosecution of the minister. Occupy Ghana, CFF , Ghana Peace Council as well as the Minority in Parliament have all added their voices to the call.
