I just wanted to remind you about the recent announcement from Gyankroma Akufo-Addo, the Executive Director of the Creative Arts Agency.
She announced the upcoming launch of the “creative art card,” which aims to assist Ghanaian artists in obtaining visas for international performances more easily.
She said; As it stands, when we mention Ghana music, the immediate question is often ‘What is Ghana music?’ currently support a diverse range of music styles, but our producers and musicians must develop specific sounds originating from Ghana. Whether it’s Highlife or Hiplife, the key is to establish a music identity that is university-acknowledged.”
“Our music industry needs to reach a point where audiences worldwide can readily identify Ghana’s musical signature.”
This initiative will streamline the visa application process and provide artists with more international exposure and collaboration opportunities.
Gyankroma emphasized the importance of creating a distinct musical identity that resonates globally and hopes that this initiative will put Ghana on the global map in terms of music and culture.
