Gumah Fm Shutdown: General Manager Alleges Minister’s Bias and Agenda

The shutdown of Gumah FM has ignited a firestorm of controversy, with General Manager Mr. Nurudeen Gumah alleging that the Regional Minister’s decision is tainted by political and tribal biases.

At the heart of the issue is the Minister’s perceived notion that Gumah FM supports the NPP and favors the Mamprusi tribe, given the station’s ownership and the Regional Honorable Member of Parliament’s affiliation with the Kusaasi tribe, with whom the Mamprusi have a history of conflict.

Mr. Gumah questions the Minister’s motives, pointing out that other stations in the municipality discuss the same Bawku conflict without facing similar repercussions. This, he argues, suggests a targeted agenda against Gumah FM.

It’s worth noting that the National Communications Authority (NCA) shut down Gumah FM, along with three other stations, citing national security concerns and the stations’ alleged role in escalating the Bawku conflict.

However, Mr. Gumah’s allegations raise important questions about the Minister’s impartiality and the fairness of the shutdown.
