Greater Accra Regional Minister and Member of Parliament for Shai Osudoku Constituency, Linda Akweley Obenewaa Ocloo, has reaffirmed the Regional Coordinating Council’s commitment to working with Zongo traditional leaders and other stakeholders to promote inclusive development across the region.
The Minister made the commitment when she welcomed the Council of Zongo Chiefs and other stakeholders to an engagement on Zongo initiatives and development in the Greater Accra Region.
The engagement, organised by the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, provided a platform for Zongo chiefs to present their concerns, development priorities and aspirations for their respective communities.
In her welcome remarks, Madam Ocloo stressed the importance of collaboration among the Regional Coordinating Council, the Council of Zongo Chiefs, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) and other stakeholders in addressing the development needs of Zongo communities.
She said Zongo communities remained an important part of the identity and development of Greater Accra, highlighting their contributions to the region’s economy, culture, education, sports and community life.
The Regional Minister said she was particularly encouraged by the openness and collaborative spirit that characterised the engagement, noting that genuine partnership and a willingness to listen were essential to translating the concerns of communities into practical interventions.
“There is much work to be done, but with genuine partnership and a willingness to listen, we can translate concerns into practical interventions that improve lives,” she said.
Madam Ocloo expressed appreciation to the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs for initiating the engagement, as well as the Council of Zongo Chiefs and other stakeholders for their participation.
She reiterated the Regional Coordinating Council’s resolve to build a Greater Accra where all communities feel heard, respected and included in the region’s development process.
