GPL MATCH WEEK FIVE REPORT : ASANTE KOTOKO CLIMBS TO THE SUMMIT AFTER 1-0 WIN OVER ACCRA LIONS

Match day five of the 2024/2025 Ghana Premier League produced exciting moments. Hearts of Oak dropped points against Aduana despite having a numerical advantage. Heart of Lions snatched a point against Inform Medeama in Tarkwa. Recap of results is below.

On Friday, Accra Hearts of Oak dropped points against 10 man Aduana at the University of Ghana Stadium. The two teams failed to score in both halves. Richmond Sackey’s red card presented the home side an opportunity to secure all three points but with poor attempts and lack of creativity the game ended in a 0-0 stalemate.

On Saturday, Coach Bashir Hayford’s Heart of Lions picked up a point against Medeama at the Tarkwa TNA Stadium. Goalkeeper Lawrence Osei kept the away side in the game with superb goalkeeping. It ended Medeama 0-0 Heart of Lions.

On Sunday, Kumasi Asante Kotoko secured a 1-0 win over Accra Lions thanks to Albert Amoah’s strike in the 47th minute. Saaka Dauda’ was a threat all afternoon. His speed and direct play offered Kotoko a lot of creativity. Accra Lions did score but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Nations FC recorded a 1-0 win against Dreams FC thanks to Nafiu Sulemana’s strike in the 80th minute elsewhere Daniel Yemoah’s strike secured Vision FC a narrow 1-0 win over Basake Holy Stars.

Meanwhile, defending champions Samartex drew against Karela United at the Naleregu Park. Nsoatreman returned to winning ways with a resounding 3-0 win over Legon Cities.

Asante Kotoko are on top of the league log for the first time this season with 3 wins and 2 draws despite been on the same level of points (11) with Medeama. Legon Cities remain buttom with just a point.
