The deployment is to put fear and panic in the people so they will not be able to come out in their numbers to register for the upcoming elections…
A member of the Peoples National Convention (PNC) communication team, Yakubu Farudeen has stated that the Government of Ghana’s deployment of the military and security service personnel in the Volta region is part of a political agenda.
He has described this as the worst and saddest moment in the annals of Ghana’s political history adding that we have never experienced such a situation before.
The communicator said, the President is using the covid-19 pandemic as an excuse to do whatever he wishes to the detriment of Ghanaians.
With the increasing numbers of persons being infected in Ghana daily, Government said it has deployed the security services to our borders to prevent foreigners from entering the country. This position has been challenged by the leading opposition party saying these are lies but that the real intent is to prevent Voltarians from registering for the December polls.
Mr Farudeen didn’t also agree with the government, claiming it’s just a plot to disenfranchise people in the opposition stronghold.
He believes because the President has all the powers, he is taking advantage of that to use all avenues to suppress citizens and people at places where his party is not popular.
According to him, one of the motives behind government’s security deployment is just to gain an undue advantage over the opposition.
“The deployment is to put fear and panic in the people so they will not be able to come out in their numbers to register for the upcoming elections,” he concluded.
Farudeen Yakubu is the Greater Accra Communication Director for the P.N.C.
